See Shirley Created Paintings for the Poem in Beijing Dec 26- 29,2014

This is my 99th Combined Paintingthat I have created / painted for Chinese Classical Poetry, and my 952nd painting since 2003 ; my 354th assignment at Chinese National Academy of Arts.

This is the 4th part of my big size painting Peace, Happiness & Luck I started it on Dec 10 , 2014.

I wanted to create a big size painting with 4 parts. Each part can be there as a single painting, while the 4 parts should be able to be connected together, become a big size ( 388 cm x 180 cm -- 152.75 inches x 70.86 inches ) painting. And I wanted to give it a name Peace, Happiness & Luck with the tree peonies, dove of peace and golden pheasant. Because in Chinese culture:

-- the tree peonies means happy, riches and honor;
-- the doves means peaceful;
-- the golden pheasant means lucky.

Then, when I completed the first 3rd painting. My long-term idea ( to paint a big painting to match one of the Chinese Classical Painting Ode to the Tree Peonies by the Tong Dynasty Poet Liu Yuxi ) jumped into my mind.

So, I translated this poem and then I sent my translation to Britain and America. Two of my best friends who are native English speakers and my English teacher corrected my translation.

The Main Meaning of the Poem and the Lyrics of the Song in English:

Peonies in the front yard are pretty but have no character,
Lotuses in the pool are clean but have little sentiment.
Tree peonies are the only true national beauty,
They move the whole of the capital during their blossoming season.

Original Poem, Lyrics of the Song in Chinese and Pronunciations:

庭前芍药妖无格 -- Ting qian shaoyao Yao Wu ge,
池上芙蕖净少情 -- Chi shang fu qu jing shao qing。
唯有牡丹真国色 -- Wei you mudan zhen guo se,
花开时节动京城 -- Hua kai shijie dong jingcheng。

Now I have not created a piece of music for it yet and I have not written the article for it yet. But, I will do it.

Also, I am thinking whether I should paint another painting to match the other 3 parts and to make this single painting to match this poem only.

How do you think of this single picture? Do you enjoy it?
