Title: Gouache--099(Flower & Bird): Hi, Be Quickly, I Am Waiting For You...:-) |
Artist: Shirley Zhang |
Size: |
Completed Time: Wed, Dec 21,2005 |
Remarks: This is my 99th Gouache painting. Since I re-learned to paint it in March, 2003, now it is near 3 years. During the 3 years, most birds I painted are mandarin ducks. In the end, 2003, I created my first mandarin ducks Mandarin Duck & Water Lilies and in the end of 2004, I created my first bigger size picture with mandarins Fairyland and I thought that I would stop painting it. However, I painted my last mandarin in the end of this year. Instead of creating a new and big size picture, I painted a small one that follow a past great Chinese Gongbi artist Ms. Yu Zhizhen. I wanted to make a recalling and a summary to see how to improving my skills more in the new year and how I should paint a bird with Chinese style and Western tools together. :-)
Maybe you will ask why Shirley loves to paint mandarin ducks so much? One side, I enjoy their beautiful surface; the other side, I enjoy their quality -- they are the most loyal birds in the world. Both of mandarin ducks are always together. In case one is dead, the other will not eat and drink until be dead. So, it is one of the favorite birds by Chinese artists, literatures... :-) Do you enjoy their beautiful and the quality?
