Remarks: This is my 803rd painting since 2003and the 439th Chinese Xieyi Painting, the 197th assignment that I have completed in Chinese National Academy of Arts .
This is the 21st painting that I painted for the series stories and my long scrollゞ屈噴膨丐〃: Er Shi Si Xiao Tu -- The Twenty-Four Dutiful Children .
This story names 禀鱒束丗乏銚: Min Sun Lu Yi Shun Mu -- Min Sun Wore in the Clothes that Was Made up of Reeds' Flowers, He Was Still Filial Piety to His Step Mother
Min Sun had another name ^Min Ziqian ̄, he was from Lu State (in today¨s Shandong Province)in the Spring and Autumn Period (770 B.C. - 476 B.C.). As one of the students of Confucius, he had the same good reputation as Yan Yuan.
His birth mother passed away when he was very young. His father married a new wife and she gave birth to two sons. She offered her own sons clothes with cotton, but gave Min Sin the clothes with reeds¨ flowers.
One day, his father asked him to carry him out by a handcart. It was too cold in the winter and he could not help trembling so that the rope of the handcart dropped on the ground. His father was angry and whipped him. When the flowers of the reeds flew out of his clothes, his father knew Min Sun was abused by his step mother.
As soon as his father came back home, he would like to divorce her. Min Sun kneeled down to ask his father to forgive his step mother: ^ When the step mother is at home, there is only one child in the cold; if the step mother was sent out of the house, all of the three children would be in the thin clothes. ̄
After his step mother knew this, she knew she was wrong and she wanted to correct her own mistakes.
Confucius admired him: ^What a filial piety child Min Ziqian is! ̄
With a respected heart, I painted this painting and hope you enjoy it.
