The More Tolerant, The More Peaceful -- Shirley's 93rd Friendly Greeting -- Sun, June 24, 2007

Hi,Dear Friends
How are you? Have you had a good week? I do hope that you are well and have a relaxed weekend.
Monday evening, as soon as I came back home, I realized that my cleaning lady had cleaned my home, before her doctor allowed her leaving from hospital after a surgical.
Last week, she told me that two doctors suggested her to accept a surgical. She would stay in a hospital for 10 days and she wondered whether I would find another one to work for me and whether I would take back my keys from her. I do need a cleaning lady for the temperature out of the door has been 35 C degree, but, I knew she needs this job. So, instead of reducing any salary for her absented time, I gave her 170% of salary this month to help her and I did not take back my keys as well.
I am sure this is just the reason that she came to take care of my life before she left hospital. I was touched by her and I really feel that a tolerant heart will get a kind return.
Then on Tuesday evening, my car was crushed seriously by a man's car on the road, when I came back home on the Chinese Dragon Boat Festival.
My head hit on the ceiling of my car with a heavy crushing sound. With a serious ache, I went down my car and asked him "What has happened to you?" He answered, "I do not know, I am confused." Instead of speaking anything with a high sound, I called the insurance company and he called the traffic police. Before I finished my telephone, a policeman told me that I needed not do any thing, for the man had to stand for 100% of the responsibilities. The man spoke many times 'Sorry' to me. Also, he wanted to take me to one of the branches of TOYOTA to repair my car. I felt funny for he had crushed my car when all of the cars on the road were driving with a very slow speed at the traffic jam time near the evening. I could not help to answer him with smiles, since you did not really want to crush me, so, you need not say Sorry again. Let us remember the lesson. That is OK. I do not need you to repair my car since both of us have insurance and I need not pay any money for the accident and I will ask my colleagues in the administration office to deal with it for me next day, after all, that day, I have had 5 meetings and I was too tired to deal with the repair my car.
Then, in the night, instead of being in a bad emotion, I read some poem/art books, to think and design my new picture and I played piano with a peaceful heart. I had not been affected by the accident in my heart at all. Even I have forgotten what the man looks like, except remembering that he also had a TOYOTA. Even though it had really made my car to be damaged so seriously, that I did not have a car to drive in the too hot days for 5 days already. Anyway, I do think that to keep a tolerant heart to treat the others has brought me a very calm and peaceful heart.
The more tolerant to the others, the more peaceful inside.
How will you deal with this kind of things if you meet an accident as I did?

Shirley Created Art -- Chinese Xieyi 0145: Peaceful Lotus Pool
Lotus has been planted in China for over 3000 years. We love it not only for its beauty, but also being a traditional medicine and food. Also for it grows up in the mud, but keeps its clean and upright quality as a gentleman that keeps his honest quality in a bad environment. So, lotus had been admired in China. My teacher ordered a roll, 100 pieces of paper, 134 meters length for me. It is better paper. So, even though I did not paint more on lotus's leave, paper helped it to make some nature lines on it. Very interesting and mystic. My teacher thought that I did a good job to paint the poles of the bamboo and the bird. My bamboo leaves are not good. The space between the bird and the flower is too small. So, I got 80 marks. How do you think of this picture?

Shirley Created Combined Art -- 002: Chrysanthemums
This is the most detailed Chinese Xieyi painting that I created. My teacher thought my detail and the ability to create a picture with brush directly instead of making any draft with a pencil could make me get 80 marks. But the other places were not good yet. I agree with my teacher for my poem has not been put on the suitable place and also the mountains look like too clean. But the happiest thing in my heart is, that I have created a way of my own to paint a chrysanthemum. Have you seen the small chrysanthemums? They were created by me with some colored brushes quickly. How do you think of this picture? Do you enjoy it?

Chinese Classical Poem 0088 (By Yuan Zhen) & Shirley Created Music-0078: Ju Hua -- Chrysanthemum
Except admire Chrysanthemum¡¯s strong quality in the hard environment. Also, people love it for it can grow up in any place, in a mountain, on a farm, or in a garden, just like a gentleman who does not care for the fame and gain in the officialdom and enjoy a peaceful common life as a common person. So, chrysanthemum has been admired from many different sides by poems and artist for many years. I have created a piece of music, a picture and written calligraphy to match this poem. I do hope they will enjoy your eyes, hairs, heart and mind, will be a little bit help to you to know more about Chinese culture and to improve your Chinese language level.

Shirley's 16th Chinese Running Regular Calligraphy: Ju Hua -- Chrysanthemum
Chrysanthemum is another flower that has been planted and loved by Chinese for about 3000 years. We love it for it blossoms in the time that the other flowers have died in the later autumn, just like those people who are strong quality and keep their dreams in the hard time. Chrysanthemum's flower is also a wonderful tea and food. This week, I have written a piece of calligraphy of a poem by Tang Dynasty (A.D.618- A.D.907) poet Yuan Zhen, except creating a piece of music, a picture to match it. I had written an article to introduce its medicine quality 6 years, in 2000. I do hope it will be a little bit help to you to know more about Chinese culture.
