 This is a very famous Chinese folk song that was created by the Father of Chinese Wang Luobin .
I learned to sing it first time in Chinese and translated it into English in 2005, then, I re-translated in 2006 and 2007 and I have been looking forwarding to sing it in English.
Today, March 21, 2009, finally, I not only re-translated, and I sang and recorded it in English and in Chinese in the campus in the US.
I would like to compensate the pity that I could not paint for my first American art and music teacher ? Mr. Charlie K's birthday on March 17. I would also use my singing to comfort his soul, wish him to be peace and happiness in the heaven.
This is a typical Chinese folk, it is not only popular in China, it is also enjoyed by many westerners. I was lucky to hear it in a Concert by one of The Three Tenors -- Carreras to sang it in person.
Also, this is the first song that I have required a girl tutor in the writing Center of the university to correct my translation for me face to face days ago on March 8.
